As our General Counsel, you will own the legal function at YAPEAL. Reporting directly to our CEO, you’ll be the trusted sparring partner for the Executive Team, the Board of Directors and the YAPEAL team, navigating the legal complexities of a FINMA-regulated environment.

• Strategic Legal Advice: Acting as the primary legal partner, providing guidance on the regulatory landscape, corporate structures, strategic initiatives and business development.

• Contractual Framework with Clients: Maintaining and continuously developing the legal framework and documentation (T&Cs, disclosures) that regulate the relationships with our clients and business partners across both our Direct and Embedded Finance business lines.

• Contractual Ecosystem: End-to-end management of contractual relationships with key suppliers, contractors, and employees to ensure operational resilience and legal protection.

• Regulatory Synergy: Close coordination and collaboration with our Risk & Compliance team to ensure legal strategies are seamlessly aligned with compliance and risk frameworks.

• External Counsel Management: Selecting and instructing specialized external legal experts for complex matters while ensuring high-quality output and cost-efficiency.

We are looking for a Business Lawyer. Someone who sees the law as an enabler.

• Master’s degree in law from a Swiss university; bar admission is an advantage.

• Several years of experience as an in-house counsel or in a business law firm, ideally within the fintech or banking sector.

• Solid experience in the cards and payments industry is highly desired. You should be familiar with the legal setup of payment infrastructures (e.g., SIC/SEPA, Instant Payments) and card schemes (ideally VISA).

• Strong regulatory background and expertise in contract law and corporate law is essential.

• Pragmatic, solution-oriented working style with high quality standards and ability to work in a high pace and a fast-changing environment. 

• (Swiss-)German and English fluency (C1/C2) is a must; you’ll negotiate contracts in both languages.
